Through a number of internal and external conflicts, including the Fenian Raids, the Riel Rebellion, the Boer War, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, the Korean war, and some early UN peace keeping activities;

millions of Canadians sung this rousing theme, becoming our official hymn in the year of Confederation, 1867, and proudly sung until 1957, when it was changed (90 years) .

The anthem we now have, (originally written in French and translated), has been our hymn for 66 years.!!
