This is an excellent example of a pre 1901 issue Long and Meritous Service medal. Issued to Sergeant W. Scarff - Mount Abu Sanitarium. All attachments are made of silver. Has the 1855 swivelling scroll suspension for ribbon attchment as well as the one color pre 1917 ribbon. Well worth the research. By 1870 the qualifying period to receive this medal was 18 years service. In Canada, this medal was replaced in 1950 by the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) ...
